Privacy Policy

Effective July 20, 2026

nogoe is built to be private. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads — the app has no way to know who you are, and we never see what you search, favorite, or visit.

Your location

nogoe uses your location for one thing: showing restaurants near you — centering the map and sorting the Nearby list by distance. Location is processed entirely on your device. It is never uploaded, stored, or shared with us or anyone else. You can decline location access and browse the list alphabetically instead.

Favorites & settings

Starred places, your filter and sort preferences, and all app settings are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

Restaurant data

The places in nogoe come from a public, community-curated Google Maps list. To keep itself up to date, the app fetches this list — and place photos — directly from Google's public endpoints. These requests go to Google, the same as loading a webpage; they carry no account information and no personal data from you. The last good copy is cached on your device so the app works offline.

Phone numbers

When you open a place card, the app may look up the restaurant's phone number using Apple's Maps service (MKLocalSearch) so you can call with one tap. The lookup sends the restaurant's name and location — never yours — and the result is cached on your device.

What we never do

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.

Restaurants change recipes and menus — always confirm no onion, garlic, or eggs with the restaurant before ordering.
